The Sabarmati Ashram, also known as Mahatma Gandhi's home, is where the Father of the Nation lived from 1917 to 1930. It was from this location that Gandhi, accompanied by 78 followers, embarked on the historic Salt March to the coast of Gujarat in 1930, in a symbolic act of defiance against British salt taxes. Today, the Ashram is a serene place housing a museum dedicated to Gandhi, with adjacent gardens offering a peaceful oasis by the Sabarmati River.
